IPRAN Datacom Engineer

About the role

The IPRAN Datacom Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and optimisation of the IPRAN and datacom transport network. The role involves both on‑site field work and coordination with local operators and Chinese technical teams to ensure network stability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and optimise IPRAN & Datacom transport network (router, switch, optical link).
• Conduct routine site inspections, optical power testing, fiber link dredging and network performance monitoring.
• Diagnose and resolve network faults such as link interruptions, optical attenuation, equipment outages, packet loss and latency issues.
• Configure, deploy, migrate and cut‑over IPRAN services including L2/L3 VPN, MPLS LDP, RSVP‑TE and static/dynamic tunnels.
• Collaborate with local operators and Chinese technical teams for network rectification, bandwidth adjustments and project acceptance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date network documentation (topology, IP plan, routing tables, fault logs, maintenance reports).
• Support emergency network rescue, optimise routing and ensure SLA compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in IPRAN, datacom and optical transport network operations.
• Ability to work outdoors, adapt to urgent overtime and handle emergencies independently.
• Basic English communication skills; Congolese candidates preferred.
• Relevant certifications (HCIA, HCIP, CCNP or similar) are a plus.

Required skills

• TCP/IP protocol stack, subnet planning, VLAN.
• Routing protocols: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, VRRP, BFD.
• MPLS technologies, MPLS‑TE tunnel principles, LDP, RSVP‑TE.
• L2/L3 VPN, static/dynamic tunnel deployment.
• Optical fiber dredging, optical power testing, fiber splicing, link‑layer fault location.
• Equipment commissioning and emergency fault handling.
• Familiarity with Huawei, ZTE or Nokia IPRAN devices.
