Law Enforcement Trainer – Okapi Wildlife Reserve (DRC)

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks an experienced Law Enforcement Trainer to lead and strengthen ranger training at the Okapi Wildlife Reserve (OWR) in Epulu, DRC. The role is based permanently on‑site and supports the OWR Director, Assistant Director and Head of Law Enforcement in building a capable ranger force.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and evaluate basic and specialist ranger training programmes.
• Act as Chief Instructor, mentoring the ICCN Senior Trainer and developing the ICCN training team.
• Coordinate with contracted third‑party trainers, transferring knowledge and course materials.
• Advise the Reserve Director and Assistant Director on training strategy and staff development.
• Serve as deputy to the Law Enforcement Adviser and act as the on‑site WCS Security Officer.

Required profile

• Proven experience in law enforcement or wildlife ranger training.
• Ability to live and work in remote, austere conservation areas.
• Comfort operating in challenging political and security environments.
• Strong mentorship and capacity‑building skills.
