Licensing and Economic Regulations Analyst

About the role
The Licensing and Economic Regulations Analyst will support Airtel Africa’s regulatory strategy across multiple jurisdictions. You will coordinate licensing applications, ensure compliance with central bank requirements, and provide economic regulatory analysis for digital payment services.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate licensing applications, renewals, expansions and compliance filings with Central Banks and other authorities.
- Lead regulatory approvals for EMI, PSP and NPS licenses, including system enhancements and product applications.
- Oversee group‑wide compliance with licensing conditions such as trust account management, KYC/AML protocols and operational thresholds.
- Monitor license‑specific reporting obligations, governance filings and post‑inspection implementations.
- Track and interpret regulatory frameworks on pricing, fees, platform access and interoperability.
- Provide data and analysis for industry‑level consultations on mobile money pricing, competition and agent commissions.
- Lead regulatory impact assessments related to fee reviews, consumer protection controls or tax reforms.
- Prepare periodic reports for the Group’s Enterprise Committee, Board Risk/Audit Committees and internal audit.
- Maintain a centralized Regulatory License Compliance Tracker linked to renewals, inspections and approvals.
Required profile
- Experience in regulatory approvals and compliance within the telecom or digital payments sector.
- Knowledge of licensing conditions, KYC/AML requirements and central bank regulations.
- Ability to analyse fiscal and economic regulation impacts on pricing and commercial models.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills for risk and audit committees.
