Manager, Assets & Liabilities Management

About the role

Standard Bank RDC is seeking an experienced Manager to lead its Assets and Liabilities Management function. The role supports the Asset‑Liability Committee (ALCO) in managing liquidity risk, interest‑rate risk, and capital resources while optimizing the balance sheet in line with internal policies and international best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist ALCO in monitoring and controlling liquidity risk, interest‑rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), and capital adequacy.
• Develop and maintain policies for liquidity, funds transfer pricing (FTP), and balance‑sheet analysis.
• Prepare and oversee local and SARB regulatory reporting related to ALM.
• Identify market and regulatory challenges, run stress‑scenario analyses, and recommend remedial actions.
• Report any breaches of liquidity, IRRBB, or capital limits to the Risk Management team within prescribed timeframes.
• Support the CFO in managing the liquid asset portfolio (endowment hedge).
• Review and align Treasury and Capital Management processes with Standard Bank Group policies and risk‑appetite frameworks.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in treasury, asset‑liability management, or related finance functions within a bank.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for liquidity, IRRBB, and capital management.
• Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders such as CFOs and ALCO members.
• Excellent analytical and forecasting skills.
