National Security Coordinator

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a National Security Coordinator to lead security planning and risk management for its operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Goma, the role focuses on protecting staff, visitors, assets, and programmatic activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously update national security strategies, risk assessment, mitigation, and crisis management plans.
• Collect, analyse and disseminate threat intelligence, monitoring local, regional and global security trends.
• Provide regular security briefings, training modules and communication tools to raise staff awareness.
• Design and monitor threat mitigation measures, including personnel risk management, asset protection and communications protocols.
• Collaborate with senior programmatic staff, regional security managers, law‑enforcement advisors and other stakeholders to ensure security readiness.
• Support WCS leadership in decision‑making related to security incidents and emergency response.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security coordination, risk assessment or related fields, preferably in complex, high‑risk environments.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret intelligence and translate it into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication and training delivery abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.
