Operations Specialist – Ebola Response

About the role

The Operations Specialist will be based in Beni (and Butembo) and will provide strategic leadership for UNICEF’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. You will coordinate all operational functions – supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT – to ensure a rapid, agile and risk‑informed emergency operation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee supply‑chain activities, ensuring timely delivery of medical and non‑medical supplies.
• Manage financial and administrative processes to support uninterrupted programme delivery.
• Implement risk‑management procedures and monitor operational risks in a volatile environment.
• Coordinate ICT services to maintain communication and data systems for field teams.
• Advise the Ebola Coordination team on resource optimisation, governance and alignment with the emergency response plan.
• Support the wellbeing and rapid deployment of personnel across affected provinces.

Required profile

• Senior professional with proven experience in humanitarian or emergency operations.
• Strong coordination and adaptability skills in complex, insecure settings.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including government authorities and local communities.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and commitment to child‑focused outcomes.
