Operations Specialist – Emergency Ebola Response (6 months)

About the role

The Operations Specialist will provide strategic leadership and coordination of all operational functions for UNICEF’s Ebola response in Beni and Butembo. This six‑month temporary appointment ensures that supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT systems are agile, risk‑informed and responsive to emergency needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee supply chain, finance, administration, risk management and ICT activities for the Ebola response.
• Ensure timely delivery of supplies, rapid staff deployment and wellbeing of personnel.
• Advise the senior Ebola Coordination team on operational approaches, risk mitigation and resource optimization.
• Align operational systems with the emergency response plan and simplified emergency procedures.
• Develop people resources to build a fit‑for‑purpose, agile workforce.
• Champion value‑for‑money principles and strategic resource use.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian or emergency operations management.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills in complex, insecure environments.
• Ability to work culturally sensitively with diverse communities.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making capabilities.
