Procurement Manager

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead acquisition and logistics support for its protected‑area program in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Logistics Director and working closely with program and grant managers, the role ensures timely, cost‑effective procurement of goods and services across three wildlife reserves.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the procurement structure for the DRC country program in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Develop, validate and continuously update project‑specific procurement plans during proposal development and implementation.
• Coordinate purchasing activities, negotiate with suppliers, and manage contracts to meet program timelines and budgets.
• Monitor the local supply chain, assess geopolitical risks, and propose alternative sourcing solutions.
• Establish reporting cycles with grant managers and produce regular procurement performance reports.
• Support funding proposals and kick‑off calls, ensuring cost estimates reflect market prices.
• Supervise the Procurement Officer in Goma and provide guidance to site‑level logistics teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing procurement and logistics for large‑scale projects, preferably in the non‑profit or conservation sector.
• Strong knowledge of the DRC market, supplier landscape and regulatory environment.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize multiple projects and liaise with senior stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; French proficiency is an advantage.
