Project Manager – Mine Action Project

About the role

The Project Manager will lead day‑to‑day operations of a two‑year UNOPS‑funded mine‑action programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Head of the Project Unit, the role ensures delivery of project objectives, coordination with donors, partners and beneficiaries, and compliance with UNOPS rules.

Key responsibilities

• Manage implementation of project activities across North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri and Tanganyika provinces.
• Monitor progress against UN Sustainable Development Goals 16 and 17 and report to the donor (KOICA) and UNMAS.
• Coordinate with the National Mine Action Authority (CCLAM) to strengthen its capacity for explosive hazard management.
• Oversee training of national NGO personnel in explosive ordnance disposal and ensure safe release of land for productive use.
• Maintain project documentation, budgets, and compliance with UNOPS regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing humanitarian or security‑related projects, preferably in mine‑action or explosive ordnance disposal.
• Strong understanding of UNMAS, UNOPS, and donor reporting requirements.
• Ability to work in challenging environments and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
