Safety Officer – Workshop (Mining & Construction)

About the role

Sandvik Mining and Construction DRC is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to support its workshop and site operations in Lubumbashi. The role ensures compliance with Sandvik, customer and legal safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) requirements, fostering a safe and sustainable working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review and implement Sandvik and customer SHEQ policies and procedures.
• Conduct baseline, issue‑based and continual risk assessments and maintain the site‑specific EHS risk register.
• Drive SHEQ performance by meeting required KPIs and aligning EHS plans.
• Compile and maintain the customer EHS file and ensure all required inductions and trainings are delivered.
• Perform workplace and equipment inspections, and lead EHS meetings at all organisational levels.
• Update documented EHS information, upload evidence to the Sandvik EHS database, and generate regular EHS reports.
• Participate in internal EHS audits, develop corrective actions, and investigate incidents.
• Monitor compliance with internal, external and legal obligations and maintain all EHS records.

Required profile

• Congolese citizen with strong teamwork orientation.
• Solid knowledge of DRC mining legislation, EHS regulations and legal requirements.
• Proven experience in EHS management within the mining or construction sector.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and adapt to regulatory changes.
