Senior Surveyor – Tailings Storage Facility Construction

About the role

The Senior Surveyor will lead and coordinate all surveying activities for the construction of tailings storage facilities (TSF) and related infrastructure. Reporting to the Superintendent – TSF Construction, you will ensure that layouts, geometric checks, quantity take‑offs and topographic data meet engineering plans, specifications and tolerances.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and execute topographic surveys for earthworks, embankments, dikes, drainage, pipelines, access roads and related structures.
• Establish and maintain control networks, benchmarks and reference systems to guarantee construction accuracy.
• Produce and verify as‑built layouts, controlling levels, alignments, slopes and dimensions.
• Measure cut‑and‑fill volumes, calculate borrow material and stockpile quantities, and provide progress data.
• Monitor construction compliance by comparing completed work with approved designs and reporting discrepancies.
• Provide daily topographic support to construction teams and participate in technical meetings.
• Manage and calibrate surveying equipment such as total stations, GNSS/GPS, digital levels and drones/UAVs.
• Maintain digital survey databases, prepare as‑built plans and technical reports.
• Supervise surveying personnel, mentor junior staff and monitor contractor performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading surveying activities on large‑scale construction projects, preferably TSF or mining infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of topographic control, as‑built documentation and quantity surveying.
• Ability to work under the direction of the Superintendent and coordinate with engineering, QA/QC and geotechnical teams.
