Staff Health Delegate (Humanitarian Response)

About the role

The Staff Health Delegate will be deployed to support the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, working under the Operations Manager and the IFRC Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing (OHSW) unit. The role ensures that health, safety and wellbeing considerations are systematically addressed for IFRC personnel, volunteers and partners throughout the emergency operation.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for staff health issues, providing country‑specific briefings, travel health advice and monitoring of any health conditions contracted during deployment.
• Ensure appropriate medical insurance coverage, advise on insurance plans and coordinate emergency medical evacuation procedures.
• Develop, implement and oversee a staff health and wellbeing plan, including vaccination, prophylaxis, PPE use and infection prevention and control (IPC) measures.
• Train staff on stress management, Psychological First Aid (PFA) and self‑care, and facilitate access to psychosocial support.
• Coordinate with HR, Security and MHPSS teams to integrate health considerations into operational planning and track health indicators for decision‑making.
