Tax Accountant – Corporate Tax & Compliance

About the role

Helios Towers is seeking a Tax Accountant to support tax compliance, reporting and advisory activities across its African and Middle‑East operations. You will work closely with Finance, Legal, Internal Audit and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings while mitigating risk.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tax returns in line with local and international tax laws and internal deadlines.
• Maintain tax‑related balance‑sheet reconciliations, including WHT, VAT, current tax and inter‑company tax balances.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation, OHADA requirements and regulatory frameworks, assessing business impact.
• Assist the Tax Manager and Group Tax in developing tax strategies to optimise positions and minimise risk.
• Coordinate responses to tax audit queries and track recommendations to closure.
• Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain complete, audit‑ready tax documentation, work papers and filings.
• Analyse financial data for tax implications, risk identification and planning support.
• Drive process‑improvement initiatives to strengthen controls and efficiency.
• Provide regular updates on compliance status, risks and audit matters to senior tax leadership.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in tax compliance, reporting and audit support.
• Strong understanding of VAT, withholding tax and corporate tax regulations.
• Ability to interpret and apply changes in tax legislation.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and external advisors.
