WASH Manager (P-4) – 6‑Month Temporary Appointment

About the role

The WASH/IPC Coordinator will lead UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) response to the Ebola emergency in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Bunia, this six‑month temporary appointment provides technical leadership and operational coordination across health facilities, communities, schools and other priority sites.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee rapid implementation of priority WASH/IPC interventions in affected and at‑risk areas.
• Ensure strong linkages with other response pillars such as risk communication, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.
• Align UNICEF’s WASH/IPC support with national protocols, UNICEF procedures and emergency response standards.
• Support planning, monitoring, partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting for WASH/IPC activities.
• Provide technical guidance to partners and supervise field teams delivering WASH/IPC services.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH and IPC within humanitarian or epidemic contexts.
• Familiarity with Ebola response protocols and multi‑sectoral coordination.
• Ability to work in insecure, logistically constrained environments and adapt to evolving situations.
• Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to engage with diverse communities.
