WASH Officer – 6‑Month Technical Assistance in DRC

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a WASH Officer for a six‑month technical assistance contract to support the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will focus on implementing, monitoring and coordinating water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) interventions across affected provinces.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day UNICEF WASH/IPC activities with health authorities, Ministry of Health teams and partner organisations.
• Represent UNICEF in provincial and local coordination mechanisms such as the IPC Commission, WASH/IPC sub‑pillar and Ebola Task Force.
• Lead rapid WASH/IPC needs assessments and gap analyses in health facilities, schools, IDP sites and other priority locations.
• Contribute to operational planning, including priority setting, resource estimation and intervention design.
• Monitor and support NGO partners to ensure quality, timeliness and compliance of interventions.
• Prepare and follow up partnership documents, budgets, work plans, indicators and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in WASH and IPC coordination within humanitarian or public‑health emergencies.
• Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders in complex, insecure environments.
