Advisor – Drill Rig Services

About the role

The Advisor – Drill Rig Services provides specialised technical expertise for the planned maintenance and technical services of underground drilling rigs. Reporting to the Superintendent – Underground Mobile Equipment Maintenance, the role supports complex interventions, major maintenances and repairs while ensuring compliance with manufacturer and KCC standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise during planned maintenance, major operations, inspections and technical interventions on underground drills.
• Support complex repairs on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, diagnosing advanced technical problems.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and KCC technical procedures.
• Analyse recurring failures, recommend reliability improvements and contribute to preventive maintenance initiatives.
• Assist maintenance planning by identifying parts, tools, labour and access requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and coordinate interventions with mining operations, reliability, HSE and manufacturer representatives.
• Develop and coach national maintenance staff, transferring technical skills.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or heavy‑equipment engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum ten years’ experience maintaining underground mobile or heavy industrial equipment.
• Proven experience with Sandvik and/or Caterpillar drilling equipment.
• Strong background in planned maintenance, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and reliability improvement.
• Experience using SAP or a computerized maintenance management system.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop technical staff.

• Maintenance of Sandvik drills (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
• Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Root‑cause analysis and equipment reliability analysis.
• Maintenance planning and analysis of maintenance history.
• Use of SAP or similar CMMS.
• Interpretation of technical documentation and preparation of technical reports.
