Area Manager – Eastern DRC Operations

About the role

WeWorld is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead its operations in the volatile eastern provinces of North and South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Goma, the role involves frequent missions across the region to ensure effective programme implementation, security management and donor coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the AICS‑funded project workflow, ensuring quality control, timely delivery and compliance with donor requirements.
• Oversee field bases, including logistics, administration and human resources, and organise regular inter‑departmental coordination meetings.
• Develop and manage work plans, budgets, indicators and reporting; supervise procurement, contract management and MEAL systems.
• Lead fundraising activities, prepare proposals for institutional and private donors, and support co‑financing plans.
• Represent WeWorld in coordination meetings with partners, NGOs, authorities and other stakeholders, enhancing project visibility.
• Mentor local staff, conduct training, and ensure adherence to WeWorld policies and global strategy.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in humanitarian programme management in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong ability to supervise multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets.
• Excellent analytical skills for security and context assessments.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
