Artisan Rigger – Heavy Lifting Specialist

About the role

The Artisan Rigger will lead the safe movement and lifting of heavy loads on the Kipushi underground mining project. You will supervise a team of riggers, ensuring all operations comply with industry standards and company safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, assess and execute heavy‑lifting jobs in vertical shafts.
• Inspect rigging equipment, gear and machinery before, during and after each lift.
• Maintain and store rigging gear correctly to guarantee reliability.
• Supervise rigging teams and ensure safe work practices are followed.
• Coordinate with other construction and mining crews to meet project timelines.

Required profile

• Secondary school certificate (rigging trade test) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years rigging experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in French and English preferred; Swahili is an advantage.

Required skills

• Vertical shaft rigging and heavy‑equipment slinging.
• Koepe winder and single‑drum winder operation.
• Cutting front and back ends on winder ropes.
• Overhead and mobile crane operation.
• Rigging equipment inspection, maintenance and decline rigging.
• Computer literacy – MS Office.
• Team supervision and safe‑lifting methods.
