About the role

The Assistant Caretaker supports the Senior Leadership Team in maintaining a safe, secure and well‑managed school environment. Working 40 hours per week, the role involves daily premises checks, health and safety compliance and coordination of maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

Perform daily perimeter, playground and building inspections, report hazards and maintain records of safety checks.
Coordinate security measures, including notifying police of incidents, managing keys and overseeing fire alarm and emergency lighting testing.
Carry out routine grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearance and upkeep of synthetic playing areas.
Assist with minor repairs, snow clearing, gritting and liaise with external contractors for larger maintenance projects.
