Associate Engineer (No-B) – UN Mission in Goma

About the role

The United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) is seeking an Associate Engineer (No‑B) to support the planning, design and implementation of infrastructure projects in Goma. Reporting to the Chief of the Projects & Operations Unit, the incumbent will apply professional engineering knowledge to a wide range of civil and military engineering tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and apply standard practices for the design, construction, and repair of buildings, roads, bridges, airfields, helipads, waste‑disposal and flood‑control systems.
• Conduct preliminary site investigations, collect soil and drainage data, and prepare design layouts for smaller or less complex facilities.
• Produce architectural and engineering drawings using AutoCAD and conduct site visits for inspections and measurements.
• Develop cost estimates, support budget projections and acquisition planning, and prepare technical specifications for procurement.
• Carry out Environmental Impact Assessments, analyse project proposals for technical feasibility, and evaluate bids from vendors.
• Maintain liaison with local contractors, suppliers and mission specialists, and manage engineering assets and material inventories.

Required profile

• Professional engineering knowledge with experience in planning, design and construction of infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work in field missions and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with UN procurement and reporting procedures.
