Custodian 2 – Temple Maintenance

About the role

The Custodian 2 position supports the Church’s religious mission by ensuring that temples and related facilities are clean, beautiful, and reflect their sacred purpose. The role requires adherence to Church teachings and a spirit of compassion while performing cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Clean offices, restrooms, public areas, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, windows, walls, and doors.
• Operate mechanized cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor polishers, buffers, large scrubbers, power washers, and extraction machines.
• Sanitize furnishings and fixtures, dispose of waste, and perform emergency clean‑ups such as floods or bodily fluid spills.
• Move furniture and supplies, restock cleaning materials, and report safety or repair issues to supervisors.

Required profile

• Current temple recommend holder and ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg) and work from ladders or scaffolding.
• Minimum two years of related experience or progress toward a relevant post‑secondary degree or certification.
• Positive attitude, teamwork orientation, and willingness to work shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Operation and certification on mechanized cleaning equipment (vacuum, buffer, carpet‑cleaning machinery, high‑rise power washers).
• Knowledge of commercial‑grade cleaning chemicals, proper storage, disposal, and safe handling procedures.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with related safety regulations.
