Business Development Coordinator (Humanitarian Funding)

About the role

The Business Development Coordinator will lead donor engagement and proposal development for the IRC’s programmes in eastern DRC, supporting fundraising and partnership efforts across multiple provinces.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update donor mapping, identify new funding opportunities, and coordinate donor engagement activities, including meetings and briefings.
• Lead the preparation of donor pitches, concept notes, and full proposals, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and IRC strategic goals.
• Manage the proposal development process: set timelines, coordinate team inputs, develop budgets, and ensure high‑quality, compliant submissions.
• Track and report on donor interactions, maintain an information bank of research and community data, and support post‑submission reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience in humanitarian or development grant writing and donor liaison.
• Proven track record of securing funding from major institutional donors (e.g., AFD, ECHO, USAID, World Bank).
• Experience working in conflict‑affected settings, preferably the DRC or similar contexts.

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication in English and French.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Expertise in proposal budgeting and donor compliance requirements.
