Business Support Associate - Mechanic (Fixed-term, Kinshasa)

About the role

The WFP office in the Democratic Republic of Congo is recruiting a national staff member for the Management Services unit in Kinshasa. The post supports the vehicle and fuel manager of the country office and helps coordinate repairs of vehicles and generators according to WFP procedures, directives and policies. It is a fixed-term contract of 12 months (grade FT G6) open only to Congolese candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Manage spare parts stock and alert when orders need to be renewed
• Update stock entries and exits in the FMS tool
• Help plan and organise maintenance of light vehicles and generators so they are available when needed
• Follow up routine and occasional maintenance and repair work, respecting manufacturer standards, schedules and safety procedures
• Record all repairs in FMS and carry out regular mechanical checks and diagnostics
• Repair damaged vehicles and equipment, including those damaged on field missions
• Install and maintain communication equipment such as VHF, radios and satellite tracking systems
• Keep tools and repair equipment organised and inventory them
• Advise drivers and train other mechanics, and help prepare physical fuel stocktakes
• Support logistics of light vehicles when absent and perform other tasks asked by the supervisor

Required profile

• At least 6 years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, spare parts stock management or fleet management
• Good understanding of UN agency administrative norms and international NGOs, and awareness of humanitarian action
• Minimum recognised diploma in automotive mechanics or generator repair
• Valid driving licence
• Bachelor's degree is an advantage
• Proficiency in French (level C)
