Chief Operating Officer (Mining & Processing)

About the role

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join the executive leadership team in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will act as the second‑in‑command and lead all operational functions across an integrated mining and processing business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership across all mining and processing operations.
• Serve as the operational leader and trusted deputy to the CEO.
• Lead senior operational leaders in Mining, Processing, Engineering, Maintenance, Technical Services and Operational Excellence.
• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with long‑term business objectives.
• Drive safe, sustainable and profitable outcomes while championing a Zero Harm culture.
• Oversee budgets, capital expenditure, financial performance and operational planning.
• Provide oversight of mine expansions, plant upgrades and strategic capital projects.
• Build high‑performing leadership teams through coaching, succession planning and mentoring.
• Foster strong relationships with government authorities, communities, contractors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Extensive executive experience in mining and mineral processing operations.
• Proven track record of delivering operational excellence, continuous improvement and sustainable growth.
• Strong understanding of safety, regulatory, environmental and governance requirements.
• Ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams in a FIFO environment.
