Child Protection Officer (Temporary, 6 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer to support technical, operational and administrative aspects of child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions in Ebola‑affected areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role is based in Bukavu and reports to the Chief Child Protection Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update emergency response and programme plans for child protection.
• Implement, monitor and report on child protection activities, ensuring quality and results‑based delivery.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs and other partners to align efforts.
• Provide capacity‑building support, quality assurance and knowledge management for field teams.
• Facilitate partnership support and ensure effective communication across sectors.

Required profile

• University degree in international relations, social work, psychology, child protection, public health or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or health emergencies is an asset.
• Strong coordination, adaptability and cultural sensitivity.
