Child Protection Specialist (MHPSS) – 6‑month TA in DRC (Bunia, Beni, Butembo)

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting three Child Protection Specialists (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support – MHPSS) for a six‑month technical assistance assignment in the Ebola response across Bunia, Beni and Butembo, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specialists will work under the supervision of Hub Coordinators to ensure that children and at‑risk families receive comprehensive protection and psychosocial care.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate and monitor child protection interventions within the Ebola response.
• Provide direct psychosocial support to affected children, families, healthcare workers and communities.
• Manage cases and referrals, including interim care, reunification and linkage to specialized services.
• Strengthen the social service workforce through capacity‑building of social workers, para‑social staff and psychologists.
• Facilitate inter‑sectoral coordination and integration of protection activities.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting of protection outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience in child protection and mental health/psychosocial support in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to conduct case management, referral and capacity‑building activities.
• Familiarity with coordination mechanisms and reporting in emergency response.
