Civil Engineer – Rural Infrastructure (Kananga, DR Congo)

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to support the implementation of community warehouses in rural areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role focuses on ensuring that all civil and structural works meet approved designs, technical specifications, WFP standards, national regulations, and international best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee civil and structural aspects of community warehouse construction projects.
• Verify compliance with approved designs, technical specifications, and WFP standards.
• Coordinate with local contractors, engineers, and authorities to ensure adherence to national regulations.
• Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and produce technical reports.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in construction and infrastructure projects, preferably in humanitarian or rural settings.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to work on-site in challenging environments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
