Commodity Manager – USAID DRC Resilience Food Security Activity

About the role
Save the Children is looking for a Commodity Manager to lead the logistical management of Title II commodities for a five‑year USAID‑funded Resilience Food Security Activity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role ensures that food and nutrition commodities are tracked, transported, stored, and distributed in compliance with USAID regulations and industry standards.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze commodity pipelines, develop annual forward plans, and manage budgeting to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate shipping, port clearance, and internal transport with USAID, ministries, shipping agents, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain commodity management tools, and strengthen capacity of program staff and partners.
- Supervise central and secondary warehouses, ensuring they meet USAID and industry guidelines for storage, inspection, and fumigation.
- Lead risk‑management activities, including fraud and corruption prevention, through regular trainings and reviews.
- Oversee the full supply‑chain accounting process, from receipt to distribution, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Train commodity managers and other key personnel, embedding audit responsibilities into job descriptions.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on commodity flow and support MEAL in audit preparation.
Required profile
- Proven experience in commodity management, logistics, or supply‑chain operations, preferably in humanitarian or food‑security contexts.
- Strong knowledge of USAID regulations and Generally Accepted Commodity Accounting Principles (GACAP).
- Demonstrated ability to supervise teams, coordinate across multiple partners, and manage risk.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with donors, government officials, and field staff.
