Commodity Supervisor

About the role

The Commodity Supervisor supports strategic sourcing initiatives for an assigned commodity, ensuring high‑quality products and services are procured at the best rates while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives for the assigned commodity.
• Coordinate and review competitive bid quotations and evaluate pricing for cost proposals.
• Contact suppliers to negotiate or conduct reverse auctions, ensuring compliance with procurement processes.
• Analyze Total Cost of Ownership to determine the most desirable purchasing method.
• Procure products and services at the highest quality and best rate.
• Work with cross‑functional teams, conduct site visits, pre‑bid and contract follow‑up meetings, and evaluate supplier capabilities.
• Develop expertise in the assigned category and identify cost‑saving or quality‑improvement opportunities.
• Formulate strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize internal supply chain and market.
• Supervise department staff.

Required profile

• Experience in strategic sourcing and procurement processes.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and develop category expertise.
• Proven supervisory experience within a procurement or sourcing department.
• Strong analytical skills to assess Total Cost of Ownership.
