About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Communication Officer (Multimedia) on a six‑month temporary appointment to support the Ebola response in Bunia, Ituri province, DRC. The role focuses on producing high‑quality multimedia content, engaging media, and delivering timely risk‑communication messages to protect children and vulnerable communities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and disseminate multimedia materials (photos, videos, graphics) that convey key health messages.
- Coordinate with local media outlets and community leaders to ensure accurate information flow.
- Monitor rumors and misinformation, providing rapid counter‑messages.
- Support real‑time content production for external communication channels.
- Collaborate with UNICEF’s risk‑communication and advocacy teams to align messaging.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in field‑based communication, preferably in health emergencies.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to work in insecure, resource‑constrained environments.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Ability to adapt messages to diverse community perceptions.
