Communication Specialist (P-3) – Ebola Response, Bunia

About the role

The Communication Specialist will support UNICEF’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo by creating and disseminating high‑quality multimedia content. Reporting to the Ebola Response Coordinator and working closely with the Chief of Communication, the role ensures UNICEF’s visibility, advocacy and fundraising messages reach the right audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, produce and distribute multimedia content (photos, videos, graphics, social media posts) aligned with UNICEF standards.
• Coordinate communication activities with programme sections, field teams and partner organisations.
• Support advocacy and fundraising campaigns related to the Ebola response.
• Maintain a content calendar and ensure timely delivery of communication outputs.
• Monitor media coverage and provide regular updates to senior staff.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, External Relations or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in communication, including print, broadcast and/or new media.
• Demonstrated ability to work in humanitarian or health‑crisis contexts.
• Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to adapt messages for diverse audiences.
