Compliance and Internal Controls Manager

About the role

Medair is seeking a Compliance and Internal Controls Manager to lead continuous assessment of internal controls for its Democratic Republic of Congo programme. The role will ensure compliance with donor requirements and Medair policies, mitigate financial risk, and support field leaders during the Ebola response.

Key responsibilities

• Develop risk‑based audit plans, defining scope, timing and methodology.
• Coordinate with field leadership to conduct audits with minimal disruption to emergency operations.
• Assess the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls and procedures.
• Identify risk areas and propose appropriate controls to senior management.
• Review and maintain internal policies in partnership with support departments.
• Deliver targeted training on compliance requirements and raise risk awareness.
• Participate in investigations of fraud, diversion or corruption allegations.

Required profile

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part 2 with at least three years post‑qualification experience.
• Proficiency in written and spoken French.
• Relevant financial or business administration diploma or certificate (preferred).
• Audit experience and overseas relief work experience in an NGO setting are desirable.
