Cost Control Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a data‑driven Cost Control Engineer to act as the financial compass for complex infrastructure projects. You will own cost performance throughout the project lifecycle, delivering accurate forecasts, reports and proactive risk management to keep projects on track and profitable.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) aligned with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Monitor approved budgets against actuals and forecasts, integrating cost and schedule data to produce Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
• Analyse cost trends, variances and commitments to identify overruns or savings opportunities.
• Assess financial impact of variations, scope changes and claims, and prepare high‑quality cost reports compliant with FIDIC and corporate standards.
• Conduct cost risk analysis in coordination with the Risk Manager, considering market trends, procurement performance and commodity price fluctuations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of cost control experience on major infrastructure projects, including at least five years in a senior or lead role.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, commitments, accruals, forecasts and cost reporting through procurement and construction.
• International project experience, preferably in Africa or other high‑complexity environments.

• Advanced Excel
• Oracle PPM or comparable ERP/project cost management system
• Primavera P6 schedule interpretation
• Experience with EcoSys, Prism or similar cost systems
• Working knowledge of FIDIC‑based contracts and related cost implications
