Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

The Country Director will lead Search for Common Ground’s operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, overseeing program implementation, financial management, and staff development from Goma. Reporting to the Regional Director for Central and East Africa, the role ensures alignment with donor policies and organizational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight for the DRC program portfolio, from design to close‑out.
• Lead staffing, operations, and employee development across the country office.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and legal obligations.
• Develop and manage the country operational budget, forecasts, and revenue projections.
• Produce quarterly and annual management reports and coordinate reporting with finance teams.
• Supervise senior staff, address management issues, and implement HR policies.
• Engage with international donors, government officials, and other stakeholders to strengthen partnerships.
• Guide program quality, reflective practice, and adaptive management.
• Lead senior management and leadership teams, set OKRs, and drive strategic planning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in program implementation and management in conflict‑affected or humanitarian contexts.
• Proven track record in donor compliance, financial oversight, and budget management.
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising senior‑level staff.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with donors, governments, and international partners.
• Experience developing and executing strategic plans and OKRs.
