Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

People in Need is seeking a Country Director to lead its Democratic Republic of Congo programme. Based in Kinshasa, the Director will oversee national teams in Bukavu and field locations, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and effective representation with donors and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligning with PIN’s mission, vision and values.
• Represent PIN and build relationships with donors, NGOs, government, coordination platforms and other stakeholders.
• Enhance PIN’s visibility and influence through communication and participation in relevant forums.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities and develop donor partnerships.
• Oversee security, risk management, support functions and human resource development.
• Ensure programme implementation complies with PIN policies and standards.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected contexts.
• Strong track record of donor relations and fundraising.
• Excellent communication and networking abilities with national and international partners.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.
• High level of integrity and commitment to PIN’s values.
