Country Director – Women for Women International (DRC)

About the role

The Country Director leads Women for Women International’s operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, representing the organization to donors, partners and government. This senior position is responsible for shaping strategy, overseeing program delivery and ensuring financial and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the country’s strategic plan and annual work plan with budget.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering a 12‑month gender‑transformative graduation program and related initiatives.
• Secure and manage funding, build a pipeline of donors and cultivate partnerships.
• Represent WfWI to government agencies, civil society and donor communities.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational standards and financial controls.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning to improve program impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale gender‑focused development programs in challenging environments.
• Strong commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality.
• Demonstrated ability to build and mentor high‑performing teams.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in fundraising, partnership development and donor relations.
