Daily Driver (Chauffeur Journalier) – Goma

About the role

GiveDirectly RDC, the cash-transfer programme of GiveDirectly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is looking for a daily driver in Goma. The driver supports project-related activities under the instructions of their supervisor, keeping the logistics team informed of any vehicle issues and ensuring vehicles remain available and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Transport GiveDirectly staff and project personnel as needed.
• Transport equipment and supplies on request.
• Keep vehicles in good working order and report regularly on their condition.
• Check first-aid kits, fire extinguishers and roadside repair tools, and track mileage and fuel consumption.
• Complete a daily logbook for each trip.
• Carry out field missions and act as the safety link between vehicles and the base during trips.

Required profile

• Degree, university diploma or equivalent in a relevant field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a field driver.
• Experience supervising car transport in an international NGO and in humanitarian work.
• Advanced spoken and written French and Swahili; English is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Goma and its surroundings, and physical fitness for difficult weather and terrain.

Required skills

• Automotive maintenance knowledge is an advantage.
