Deputy Finance Manager – Short Term Assignment (STA) – GAINS Program

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Deputy Finance Manager for a short‑term assignment (STA) to support the final phase and close‑out of the GAINS Program in Tshikapa, Kasaï Province, DRC. The role will work closely with the Finance and Sub‑awards Manager to ensure all financial activities comply with internal policies and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing day‑to‑day financial operations of the GAINS Program.
• Ensure expenditures are documented, approved, and aligned with donor and Mercy Corps procedures.
• Support preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for the program’s close‑out period.
• Coordinate with sub‑awardees to verify financial compliance and resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audit preparations.
• Provide guidance on financial controls, risk mitigation, and cash management.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• Experience in financial management within humanitarian or development programs.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and reporting standards.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
