Director of Transport Operations – Road Freight

About the role

The Director of Transport Operations leads and optimises all transport and fleet activities that support port, inland logistics, distribution and customer service across the Banana corridor and the wider DRC network. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on operational oversight to ensure safe, efficient and profitable cargo movement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a transport operations strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
• Lead digital transformation, technology adoption and process optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee end‑to‑end transportation activities, including fleet management, dispatch, routing, scheduling and cargo movement.
• Coordinate closely with port operations, warehousing, customs and transport providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Manage the transport control tower, monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement in utilisation, productivity and delivery performance.
• Champion a zero‑harm safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance and lead incident investigations.
• Maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulators and customs agencies.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in transport, logistics or road freight operations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and capacity models.
• Strong track record of managing large fleets and complex supply‑chain networks.
• Deep understanding of DRC transport regulations, customs requirements and international standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
