Drill Rig Assistant (Mining)

About the role

The Drill Rig Assistant supports the Drill Rig Operator in safe and efficient production drilling at Mutanda Mining’s open‑pit operations. Working on‑site, the role involves preparing equipment, handling tools, and helping maintain the rig to ensure continuous mining activity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Drill Rig Operator during drilling cycles.
• Prepare and organize drilling tools, consumables, and accessories.
• Participate in rig setup, movement, positioning, and pre‑operational inspections.
• Check water, fuel, oil and other consumable levels as instructed.
• Perform lubrication, cleaning and routine maintenance tasks.
• Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, or operational abnormalities immediately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in mining or industrial environments.
• Physical fitness to work in demanding, rotational shift conditions.
• Strong teamwork, communication and discipline.
• Ability to follow operational instructions and HSE standards.
