Emergency Specialist (P-3) – Temporary Appointment in Kinshasa

About the role

The Emergency Specialist will support UNICEF’s response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working under supervision, the specialist will develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate emergency interventions to protect children, mothers and vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate inter‑agency efforts and act as a liaison with OCHA.
• Provide technical and operational support to the national Ebola response.
• Lead humanitarian coordination activities and ensure alignment with UNICEF’s multi‑sectoral strategy.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness and response planning at country level.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or related fields.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional experience in emergency response, humanitarian coordination or public health.
