Emergency Specialist (P-4) – 6‑month Temporary Appointment

About the role

The Emergency Specialist will support UNICEF’s response to the 17th Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Working under the Chief Emergency, the role focuses on coordinating country‑level emergency activities, ensuring effective public health readiness and continuity of essential services for vulnerable children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Ebola‑related emergency interventions.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, public health readiness and strategic response activities across sectors.
• Manage Ebola programme delivery, ensuring alignment with national authorities and UNICEF’s multi‑sectoral approach.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public administration, law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or related fields.
• At least eight years of progressively responsible professional experience at national and international levels in programme or project development and management.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex, insecure environments and to engage with diverse stakeholders.
