Finance Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

International Alert is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance function of its DRC programme. Reporting to the Country Director, you will ensure robust financial management, compliance with donor regulations, and capacity building for staff and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the finances of the DRC programme, including budgeting, reporting and cash management.
• Provide line management for the finance team and oversee day‑to‑day operations.
• Build capacity of internal staff and partner organisations on grant and contract implementation.
• Liaise with the London finance team to ensure alignment with organisational policies.
• Support the Senior Management Team with financial analysis and strategic decision‑making.
• Maintain compliance with major donor regulations (USAID, Dutch MoFA, FCDO, Canada MoFA, GIZ, EC, Sida, UNDP).

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with at least 10 years of senior financial experience, including 5 years in a management role.
• Proven experience in an international NGO, preferably in peacebuilding or conflict‑transformation contexts.
• Strong knowledge of grants management and donor compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse partners.
