Fire Risk Engineer

About the role

The Fire Risk Engineer will ensure that all fire protection systems on the Kamoto Copper mining site are fully operational, inspected, tested and maintained. Reporting to the Emergency Response Manager, the role combines technical expertise with coordination of contractors to guarantee safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, test and maintain fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinkler, foam, gas detection and vehicle fire suppression systems.
• Develop and update maintenance schedules in line with standards, manufacturer recommendations and legal requirements.
• Monitor contractor work, validate work orders and service certificates, and ensure no system is left bypassed after interventions.
• Verify technical compliance of installations with company, insurer and local regulations; review plans, drawings and specifications for new or modified systems.
• Assess fire risks in operational areas and support engineering, HSE and emergency response teams in risk mitigation.
• Manage temporary system degradations, oversee corrective actions from audits and incident investigations.

Required profile

• Technical expertise in fire protection systems within an industrial or mining environment.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Emergency Response Manager and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
