Foreman, Civil Works

About the role

The Foreman, Civil Works will lead the construction of surface infrastructure for the Kamoa Copper Mine, ensuring all works meet Kamoa standards. This role oversees multiple contractor teams across several sites, coordinating activities from initial build through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects from construction start to commissioning.
• Plan and schedule work with contractors to guarantee timely delivery.
• Supervise and support contractors to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Inspect progress, produce reports and address any deviations.
• Commission construction works and equipment according to Kamoa standards.
• Control project finances, drive cost efficiencies and provide on‑time reporting.
• Monitor personnel performance against development plans and provide feedback.
• Support skills‑transfer initiatives and embed HSEQ practices into all processes.
• Maintain reporting standards, participate in audits and continuously improve processes.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in construction/building projects with tight deadlines.
• At least 5 years experience in earthworks – essential.
• Proven track record on similar large‑scale projects; experience in African countries is a strong advantage.
• Business‑level proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or Swahili is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SANS specifications for earthwork and civils.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
• QA/QC and safety management.
• Bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry and basic electrical work.
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings.
• Setting out of works and civil engineering execution.
