General Manager HME Maintenance

About the role

The General Manager HME Maintenance will lead the definition, steering and governance of the asset management and heavy mobile equipment reliability strategy for copper and cobalt mining operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the role is pivotal in ensuring sustainable performance, safety and cost optimisation across the mine’s equipment lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and continuously improve the company’s asset management framework, maintenance management systems, change management processes and engineering standards.
• Govern equipment reliability by establishing policies, conducting critical risk assessments, developing technical standards and implementing strategies to boost availability and safety.
• Develop short‑, medium‑ and long‑term maintenance plans aligned with Life‑of‑Mine objectives and production targets.
• Plan and coordinate major shutdowns and equipment overhauls, collaborating with Operations, Engineering, Health & Safety, Procurement and external partners to minimise production disruption.
• Oversee preventive, statutory and condition‑based maintenance programmes, manage critical controls and implement measures to prevent major failures.
• Manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets for maintenance, identify cost‑improvement opportunities and ensure efficient use of financial resources.
• Drive continuous improvement by benchmarking with other Glencore mining operations and implementing best practices.
• Develop technical and managerial capabilities of the maintenance team through training, coaching and mentoring programmes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in asset management and heavy mobile equipment reliability within a mining or industrial environment.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and manage complex maintenance projects.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment, reliability engineering and life‑cycle maintenance planning.
• Experience managing significant OPEX and CAPEX budgets and delivering cost‑optimisation results.
