Health Information Systems Officer – STRIDES Project

About the role

PATH is seeking a Health Information Systems Officer to lead technical surveillance activities for the STRIDES project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role focuses on integrating human and animal health data into national digital platforms and strengthening real‑time disease detection.

Key responsibilities

• Provide oversight for integration of indicator‑based, event‑based and community‑based surveillance, antimicrobial resistance and laboratory data streams into platforms such as DHIS2 and SORMAS.
• Design and implement centralized data pipelines and interactive dashboards for real‑time analysis and decision‑making.
• Assess surveillance architecture, data flows and system interoperability across sectors.
• Develop secure data‑sharing protocols and governance frameworks to enable multisectoral collaboration.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to align HIS systems with national priorities and ensure sustainability.
• Facilitate data‑sharing forums and technical workshops, and support partner staff to keep project activities on track.
• Contribute to project and donor reporting, publications and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, veterinary medicine, health informatics or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience implementing health information systems, digital health solutions and surveillance strengthening in low‑and middle‑income settings, preferably the DRC.
• Proven experience with DHIS2, SORMAS or comparable health data platforms.
• Strong understanding of infectious disease surveillance, data governance and multisectoral coordination.
