Health Officer – Community Based Surveillance (4 positions)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking four Health Officers to support Community Based Surveillance (CBS) in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role focuses on detecting, reporting, and following up on Ebola alerts and other public‑health events, working closely with community networks and health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Detect and report alerts from community actors.
• Follow‑up on cases and contacts, ensuring timely response.
• Supervise and support community health workers, RECOs, and CACs.
• Coordinate with health facilities and the Public Health Emergency Operations Center.
• Collaborate with Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBC/RCCE) teams.
• Use data for monitoring, reporting, and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in community‑based surveillance or similar public‑health activities.
• Experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings is an advantage.
