Health Officer (Community Based Surveillance) – 4 positions

About the role

UNICEF is seeking four Health Officers to support Community Based Surveillance (CBS) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role focuses on detecting, reporting, and managing Ebola alerts and cases in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, working closely with local health authorities and community networks.

Key responsibilities

• Detect and report alerts of suspected Ebola cases.
• Follow up on confirmed cases and their contacts.
• Supervise and support community actors such as RECOs, community health workers, and CACs.
• Coordinate activities with health facilities and the Public Health Emergency Operations Center.
• Collaborate with Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBC/RCCE) teams to promote community engagement.
• Use data for monitoring, analysis, and reporting to inform response strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in community‑based surveillance or a similar public health role.
• Ability to work in insecure and logistically challenging environments.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with health authorities and community partners.
