Health Specialist – Community Based Surveillance (P-3)

About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Health Specialist to lead community‑based surveillance activities in Bunia, DRC, as part of the response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. The role focuses on early detection, reporting and follow‑up of suspected cases, ensuring that vulnerable children and communities receive timely health interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Strengthen operational implementation of community‑based surveillance to improve early detection, reporting and follow‑up of suspected Ebola cases.
- Coordinate with national authorities, health facilities and community stakeholders to ensure timely data collection and response.
- Support infection‑prevention measures and continuity of essential services for vulnerable populations.
- Provide supervision, coaching and training to local surveillance teams.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Public Health, Medicine or a related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in community surveillance or public‑health programmes.
- Proven ability to work in challenging and emergency contexts.
- Strong teamwork, communication and results‑orientation.
